TWIST 2008 - General Information

     The tournament format will consist of two divisions. Division I will consist of all Premier level teams, and Division II will consist of all Comp and Classic level teams. 

     We offer eight age divisions between boys and girls. Age eligibility is based on the USYSA age groupings described below and on our approved USYSA "Application To Host Tournament" form. Remember that Connecticut does not change age groups until September 1st.

     Teams must play in the division of their oldest player. A team or a player may play in a division older than their normal age group, but not younger. No player may be registered on more than one team participating in the tournament. All rosters will be frozen at Registration on Friday, August 15, 2008.

     Three Guest Players will Be Allowed In U11 - U16 Age Groups.

     Each team is guaranteed a minimum of three games and may play up to a total of six games depending on the number of teams in that age division. The U9 and U10 groups will play a minimum of four games. Three USSF certified referees will be scheduled for all full sided games. In accordance with USSF rule 1203, only USSF registered referees will be used.

     The tournament fee is $450.00 for teams U11 and older, and $325.00 for teams U9 & U 10 playing short sided. (US currency). A check or money order payable to "WYSL/TWIST" for the total amount must accompany the application. Your entrance fee will be refunded if your team is not selected.  If your team withdraws for any reason after acceptance, you will forfeit the entire entrance fee. A performance bond is NOT required.

     The entry deadline is July 20th, 2008. Each team must complete the application form. A list of accepted teams will be posted on this site as soon as it becomes available. Teams accepted from outside Region 1 must follow USYSA procedures, except New Jersey. They must furnish an approved "permission to travel" form. All players shall be required to have a current USYSA player pass (U11 and up), or the appropriate national association pass. A medical release form must be present for each player when registering your team on Friday, August 15, 2008. See Hotels for directions.  PLAYERS WITHOUT MEDICAL RELEASES WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO PLAY.

     First and second place teams will be awarded individual trophies in the U11 age groups and older. In addition, a special tournament memento will be awarded to each U-9 and U-10 participant. We require that all competing teams exchange patches or pins at the conclusion of each game. 

     Over 80 teams participated in TWIST 2007 and we are particularly pleased with the thoroughly positive reaction from all involved. In order to provide a high quality and competitive tournament the size of TWIST over the past 20 years, we are limited to 16 teams in each age group. It is important to apply as early as possible. Please make copies of the application for other teams in your club.
